Description

The goal of the Annual “Compassion 5K” run is to raise money to help ease the financial burden of local families that are currently living through a major health crisis, many of which are life threatening. With the help of the Sertoma of St. Augustine, many local businesses and community volunteers, the “Compassion 5K” is able to help these families manage their crises during their greatest time of need.

The mission of the Sertoma of St. Augustine has always been to provide “Service To Mankind” and continue to be a beacon of hope for local community members in need.

Course

The course of the “Compassion 5K” is an “out-and-back” style course with rolling changes in topography that will both begin and end on Shore Blvd and Santa Maria Blvd in the St. Augustine Shores neighborhood.  The entire course is run on a hard-surface, asphalt road.  The course has hills and curves, so be prepared for a challenging, yet exhilarating 5K run!

Refreshments

There will be a water station mid-way through the run, as well as water, drinks, and snacks at the finish.

T-Shirts

One short-sleeved 50/50 cotton-poly blend t-shirt printed with the “Compassion 5K” logo is guaranteed to each participant who registers to participate before October 30, 2009.  Anyone who registers after October 30, will not be guaranteed a shirt (based on availability.) (Same day registrants will not be guaranteed a t-shirt and will have a higher registration fee.)

Race Awards

The top male and female finishers will each receive a cash award and a $100 gift certificate to the Columbia Restaurant. The second place male and female finishers will each receive a $100 gift card to the Columbia Restaurant. The third place male and female finishers will each receive a $50 gift certificate to the Columbia Restaurant. Dozens of other great post race prizes donated by local businesses will be randomly drawn and awarded to registered participants of the race.
